Modifying scan parameters

Set the Scan Mode, the Scan Size, the Resolution, the Quality, the File Format and the Merge mode of your scanning project is essential. These important settings can be easily accessed from the Scan Setting Toolbar located in the lower right corner of the main window.  
If you want to configure settings, you can enter the Settings dialog by pressing on the Settings 22_settings button located in the Page View Toolbar on the right side of the main window.  
 
 
Scan Mode  
Tells the scanner what type of documents you are scanning. Available scan modes are:  
Black/White 29_mode_bw -- scans in black and white and is suitable for scanning text.  
Grayscale 30_mode_gray -- scans in 256 shades of gray, giving black and white images depth and shadow.  
Color 31_mode_color -- scans in millions of colors (24-bit) but takes up a lot of memory.  
 
 
Scan Size  
Adjusts this setting to tell the scanner the size of paper to scan. Available options (vary between scanners) are:  
Ledger 38_size_ledge (11" x 18")  
Legal 39_size_legal (8.5" x 14")  
Letter 40_size_letter (8.5" x 11")  
Max. Size 41_size_full  
A3 34_size_a3  
A4 35_size_a4  
Custom 36_size_custom -- it is recommended to choose this format to save the scanning process time.  
Automatic 37_size_auto  
 
Pressing the Custom button will open the Custom Size Setting dialog where you can define your own scan size. Simply follow the instructions in the dialog. You can press on the Zoom buttons on the right side to change the magnification ratio. Press on the Cm/Inch button to toggle between showing metric and imperial units.

Resolution  
Resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi). The higher the resolution, the more detailed the image and the more memory and drive space the image will use. Available dpi values are:  
200 43_res_200 (normal text)  
300 44_res_300 (small text)  
400 45_res_400 (business card)  
600 46_res_600 (extra small text)  
 
 
Quality  
The higher the quality, the larger the resulting file. You can customize the quality options by entering new values in the fields. Available quality options are:  
Low 48_qual_low  
Standard 49_qual_standard  
Better 50_qual_better  
Best 51_qual_best  
 
 
Format  
Select the file format to save the scanned images. Available file formats are:  
PDF 53_format_pdf  
JPG 54_format_jpg  
TIFF 55_format_tif  
Searchable PDF 56_format_spdf -- the bundled OCR software is required to install on your computer for this format. This program only supports bundled OCR software. The availability of the OCR software may vary depending on the scanner model you purchase.  
 
 
Merge  
Merging lets you scan two images to one single page. Merged images will be treated as one image when editing. Available options are:  
Merge: None 58_merge_none  
Horizontal merge 59_merge_horizontal -- images are generated side by side in an joined image.  
Vertical merge60_merge_vertical -- images are generated vertically in an joined image.
