SmartCapture can also be used to process documents that contain barcodes, allowing you to automatically extract barcode data during the scanning process.
This is especially useful for workflows involving forms, ID tags, inventory lists, or shipping documents, where barcodes are used to encode important information such as:
•Document IDs
•Customer numbers
•Product codes
Using the Preset Barcode Scan Button
For your convenience, a dedicated scan button has been preconfigured for barcode document scanning.
In this example, we use the scanner button labeled “4 Barcode File Naming.”
To customize this button’s behavior:
Right-click the button in the SmartScan application.
In the settings menu, you can:
•Adjust scan parameters (e.g., resolution, color mode)
•Configure barcode recognition options
•Rename the button or update its description
These settings can be changed at any time to suit your specific barcode scanning workflow.

Scanning Barcode Documents
Once you’ve completed all necessary SmartCapture and scan button settings:
Place your documents into the scanner's input tray.
Start the scan by either:
•Clicking the scan button in the SmartScan software
•Pressing the corresponding physical button on the scanner
Review and Adjustment
After all documents have been scanned, the scan review menu will appear.
Here, you can make adjustments such as:
•Rotating pages
•Cropping or deleting unwanted scans
•Reordering pages
Once you’ve finished your adjustments, click “Next” to proceed to barcode data extraction in SmartCapture.
