OpticBook 3600

Sometimes getting young students to focus in the classroom can be difficult. I use OpticBook 3600 to scan the children''s written work as well as text from books. The results are then used in class for various exercises such as literacy tests and music teaching. For example, a student''s work is scanned using the OpticBook 3600, digitized and then displayed to the rest of the class by way of an interactive white board. The whole class then discussed ways in which to improve the text. This helps to develop grammatical skills within an interactive and collaborative environment.

My colleagues and I use the OpticBook 3600 in a variety of ways. Particularly in the classroom exercises, text is scanned and amended by digitally blanking out random words. The students then complete the passage of text together by coming up with alternative words to fill in the blanks. This exercise also creates a stimulating environment for learning punctuation and grammars. The OpticBook 3600 now saves us a significant classroom preparation time.

To memorize all the new and updated references from library books has always been a challenge for me. When I scanned or made photocopy of the books from library, I was often afraid to damage the books, particularly for those books with special or fragile binding. There's been a lot of talk about the Plustek OpticBook 3600 in the student realm, and at 8-9 second scans and a special "made for books" screen, the talk is for a reason. I'm sure there are many scanners with nice specs and ADF you can get for a cheaper price, but they either require the binding cut off the book, have a slow scan speed, or are just bad with books period. Now, as the only reason I wanted to get a nice scanner was to scan books and there was no way I'd cut the binding off a $90 book, the Opticbook 3600 was the way to go, for me.

I have tried several learning patterns to prepare my exams, and I have found that to save my textbook in audio files will be the best and most effective solution for me. Most scanners in market today are not able to avoid the book spin shadow.
